ICT 0417 - Spreadsheets: Hiding and Displaying Rows and Columns
Objective
Be able to hide and display rows and columns in a spreadsheet program.
Why Hide/Display Rows and Columns?
Sometimes it's useful to temporarily hide rows or columns to focus on specific data or to create a cleaner view of the spreadsheet. This can be helpful when working with large datasets.
Hiding Rows
How to Hide Rows
Select the row(s) you want to hide. You can do this by clicking on the row number(s) on the left-hand side of the spreadsheet.
Right-click on the selected row number(s).
From the context menu, select "Hide".
Displaying Hidden Rows
Select the row number(s) immediately above the hidden rows.
Right-click on the selected row number(s).
From the context menu, select "Unhide".
Hiding Columns
How to Hide Columns
Select the column(s) you want to hide. You can do this by clicking on the column letter(s) at the top of the spreadsheet.
Right-click on the selected column letter(s).
From the context menu, select "Hide".
Displaying Hidden Columns
Select the column letter(s) immediately to the left of the hidden columns.
Right-click on the selected column letter(s).
From the context menu, select "Unhide".

Hiding Rows: To hide the row for 'Bob', select row 2 and click 'Hide'.
Hiding Columns: To hide the column for 'Age', select column B and click 'Hide'.
Displaying Rows: To display the row for 'Bob' again, select row 2 and click 'Unhide'.
Displaying Columns: To display the column for 'Age' again, select column B and click 'Unhide'.

Important Notes
Hiding rows or columns only makes them invisible. The data is still there.
You can unhide rows or columns at any time.
This feature is useful for organizing and focusing on specific parts of a large spreadsheet.
